O-06 FATHERLAND DEFENCE ORDER
  Huân Chương Bảo Vệ Tổ quốc

It was established in 2003, and designed in 2006. Another redesign for all SRV awards was done in 2014. (see regulation extracts here)

6/A INITIAL DESIGN 2004 (2006?)
  three classes - distinguished by ribbon device stars - established 26 November 2003; design 19 May 2006; guidelines 30 September 2005;
  For: individuals and organizations for achievements in training and building forces and in strengthening national defense and security
  Design: round breast badge, gilt, 40mm across, with suspension ribbon;
    Obverse: ten-pointed round star with two smaller points between each point, in the center a red enamel field , with a crossed gun and sword, above a 5-pointed star underlined with rays accross the field towards the star, and at the top inscribed "HUÂN CHƯƠNG BẢO VỆ TỔ QUỐC and below "VIỆT NAM", all coated on the face in clear laquer;
    Reverse: plain;
    Suspension: eyelet at top, and ribbon ring to golden pentagonal plate with pin-back;
  Ribbon: 25mm - red 12.5mm, blue 12.5mm; pentagonal; (first version)
28mm - red 14mm, light red 14mm; pentagonal; (second version)
  Device:: stars indicating award class.

6/A/1 First Class - Device: three small gold stars;
6/A/2 Second Class - Device: two small gold stars;
6/A/3 Third Class - Device: one small gold star;

6/B DESIGN OF 2014

  For: individuals and organizations for achievements in training and building forces and in strengthening national defense and security
  Design: round breast badge, gilt, 40mm across, with suspension ribbon;

    Reverse: plain;
    Suspension: lotus with center eyelet at top, and ribbon ring to golden pentagonal plate with pin-back;
  Ribbon: 28mm - green 14mm, light red 14mm; pentagonal;
  Device:: stars indicating award class.

6/A/2 Second Class - Device: two small gold stars;
6/A/3 Third Class - Device: one small gold star;
